1. Introduction
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords eligible students (students over age 18 or attending postsecondary institutions) and parents of dependent students certain rights with respect to the student’s education records.
2. Right to Inspect and Review Records
- You have the right to inspect and review your education records within 45 days of our receipt of your written request.

3. Right to Request Amendment of Records
- You may request that we amend any part of your education record you believe is inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise in violation of your privacy rights.
- Submit a written statement identifying the record, the specific issue, and the proposed amendment to the FERPA Records Office address above.
- We will notify you of our decision within a reasonable time (no more than 45 days). If we refuse to amend, you may place a statement in the record commenting on the contested information.
4. Right to Consent to Disclosures
We will not disclose personally identifiable information (PII) from your education records without your prior written consent, except under certain permitted circumstances, including:
- School officials with legitimate educational interest
- Other schools to which a student is transferring
- Specified officials for audit or evaluation purposes
- Appropriate parties in connection with financial aid
- Organizations conducting certain studies for or on behalf of the institution
- Accrediting organizations
- To comply with a judicial order or subpoena
- Health and safety emergencies
- State and local authorities within a juvenile justice system

6. Rights of Parents and Eligible Students
At age 18 or upon enrollment in a postsecondary institution, FERPA rights transfer from parents to the student (“eligible student”). Parents of students under age 18, or of eligible students claimed as dependents on IRS returns, may exercise these rights.
